Climate Change
Cincinnati is in the midst of developing its Climate Action Plan, a roadmap for how government, businesses and residents in Cincinnati will reduce their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions while saving money, supporting the local economy, promoting sustainability, and improving the quality of life for local residents. Over 140 volunteers representing a wide range of constituencies have been actively involved in helping develop Cincinnati’s Climate Action Plan. Now it is time for even broader community input. Please mark your calendar for the Climate Protection Steering Committee’s upcoming public hearing, and forward this information to whomever you think might be interested:
Date: Monday February 25, 2008
Time: 6 - 8 pm
Location: Cincinnati State Technical and Community College
Address: 3520 Central Parkway, Cincinnati, OH 45223
Room: Conference Center in the Main Building, Room 344
At the Public Hearing, the Task Force will briefly present a vision for a more sustainable Cincinnati, and some of the specific steps that might be
Included in the Climate Action Plan. The bulk of the Public Hearing
will be time for members of the public to comment on the vision, the specific steps that should be included in the Climate Action Plan, and the importance of local action to combat climate change.
Approximately one week prior to the Public Hearing, a packet of information will be available presenting the preliminary results of the City’s GHG emissions inventory, draft GHG emission reduction goals, and preliminary recommendations for how to achieve the targeted reductions. The information packet will be located on the Office of Environmental Quality's website. Everyone planning on attending the Public Hearing is urged to review this packet of information in advance. In order to maximize the time for public input, the presentation by the Climate Protection Steering Committee will be very short.
To place your name on the speaker’s list for the Public Hearing, please email Ginnell Schiller, Cincinnati Climate Protection Coordinator (Ginnell.schiller@cincinnati-oh.gov)
